THE MONKEY`S PAW - 4º ESO
AFTER READING ACTIVITIES:
- Look at the picture on page 8 and the last three lines of the page. Why do you think the sergeant says "LET IT BURN"?
- Look at the picture on page 12 and read the 5th paragraph. Why do you think the stranger has come to visit the family?
- Do you think Mary and William shared the same wish? Why?/Why not?
- Imagine you are Herbert White. It is the day after the sergeant major`s visit. Tell your friends at work about the visit and the paw.

1) Because bad things have happened because of the paw and it should be destroyed.

4) Hey, guys, do you know what? Yesterday, Mr Morris, the sergeant major, visited us. He had a monkey's paw! He said that it was a magic paw and that you could make three wishes. He wanted to burn it, but we finally got it. It's probably a joke, but who knows?
1. Because the sergeant thinks that throw the paw to the fire is the only way to destroy it.

4. Yesterday came to my house Mr. Morris with a monkey's paw. He said that it makes wishes, but I think it is a joke. My father asked for £200 to pay the mortgage, but the money will not fall from the sky.

4. Last evening a strange man visited us. He has lived in India for 21 years and he said us his different experiences there. The strangest thing that he brought was a monkey's paw which was haunted. This paw give you 3 wishes. What a joke!

4-Hello!
Last night a family's friend came to visit us.It was a weird night.He told us many of his adventures abroad .However the strangest part of the night was when our guest shew us a monkey's paw.It may seem something ordinary ,but...Sergeant Major Morris told us an old fakir put a spell on the monkey's paw and as a consequence it was able to make wishes come true .According to our guest ,three people could have the paw under their control and it couuld make true three wishes for each person.Then ,the crazy man threw it away into the fire!!Thanks God my faher picked it up from the fireplace.When the night came to its end,my father decided to be the third person to have the monkey's paw on his possesion .He made his first wish,200 pounds,and according to him the paw moved!!! My father is getting crazy day by day .I don't really believe in all these things.

4.Yesterday an old friend visited us and came from one of his trips with a magic monkey´s paw that granted three wishes, my father kept it and wished for 200 pounds but in my opinion that is false.
