DTP London Trip 14

If Pitbull can count up to three, we had to organize a third trip to London, and there we went, 29 white walkers commanded by three adventurous leaders started their adventure at the recently renamed Adolfo Suárez-Barajas airport, where we had to face the first challenge: flying on a Ryanair plane (OMG, will it have enough fuel to reach London?)

London welcomed us with the very best of its weather: a wonderful sunny day!! It was perfect for our first plan: a very nice traditional picnic lying on the green grass of Hyde Park fields before going to the other side of the wall. But, my friends, this is England and in England, you never know: suddenly a heavy rain started and it ruined our delicious cured ham sandwiches (vegetarian option for Pablo, of course).

In the afternoon, our DTP lollypops conquered Notting Hill and The Javi’s, the PEPEsados and Baldnuts (wonderful name for a wonderful group) walked, and walked, and walked…  After a short visit to the NH Museum, Harrod’s was our destination. There we could taste the most delicious cupcakes and some lucky ones even met Samuel Etto’o.

Back at the hostel, the famous receptionist welcomed us before discovering that Maria and Elena were going to rest in a luxurious palace on the fourth floor (lucky princesses…). They even had a TV, but it was very disappointing for them to discover that English channels broadcast in English…

Naughty boys didn’t behave well at night and on Tuesday they paid their debts: they will never forget what “upstairs” and “downstairs” mean. And El Cuqui…feet together!! British punctuality is a reality and Spanish lateness too. If you are not on time for the changing of guards, never mind, you can always dance next to them while waving your lollypop!!

If you think Khakessi is the bravest woman on this side of the wall, you need to meet Natalia. Wearing her Atlético de Madrid t-shirt in an English pub, Natalia and the others enjoyed a boring match against Chelsea tasting some delicious burguers and sandwiches.

DTP is known by a tradition: every time they travel abroad, they have to visit a hospital. Teresa and LaLeti were the chosen ones this time. More than four hours at the waiting room were more than enough to see the most shocking images we could imagine: a different view of the British culture, from a pissed girl (yes, pissed off on a Tuesday) to a crazy woman wearing a scarf to protect herself from an unknown virus.

It is said that London is full surprises…and it is true. Is there anything more shocking than a boy dressed like a banana singing with his guitar at an underground station? It isn’t that strange when you discover that that boy is Spanish.

At Stamford Bridge, our students boasted about their knowledge of Chelsea’s footballers and Elvis, our guide, explained the little chances his team had to win the Premiere.

After an exhausting race along the city, the white walkers crossed the Millenium Bridge, visited the Tate Modern and… Aleks danced the typical Russian dance near Tower Bridge. Then, a relaxing cruise along the Thames and a final great view of the city from the magnificent London Eye

If you want to make some money in London: you can dance with Mario at Trafalgar Square, you can impress with a Queen’s song in the underground as Noelia did, or you can lift a headmaster with four fingers near the Big Ben.

This #DTPLondonTrip14 leaves us some pictures that will be difficult to forget: Aleks’ mask at the airport, Mariola’s screams to stop the traffic at Abbey Road, Víctor and Mario’s faces at their surprise birthday party, Montse and Lucía's perfect behaviour, Aroa’s falling asleep on the boat, the improvised Harlem Shake inside the London Eye, cheeky CCC pulling Edu’s leg with a chilli, Jesús Potter visiting platform 9 ¾ , Silvia's eternal happiness, Miguel discovering cars on the left, Cristina’s selfies, Alberto, Javier, David and Edu fooling inside a photo booth at Oxford street, disappearing pillows, annoying hairdryers, Cuki’s jacket, CCC’s new look, Ana's bad luck flying next to the teachers, Esperanza's adiction to GAP, Hugo flirting with some Basque girls, headmasters in underpants, the delicious breakfasts, fishers (someone is going to kill Jesús and Alberto), the Vespas at Camden, Tato and Raúl’s adventures, Lucía's LittleTower and many many others that we will keep for ourselves.

The #DTPLondonTrip14 is over, but this video will always remind us how wonderful it was.

Remember, what happens in London, stays in London…and on this blog.
